Suicide Sucked

I finally saw Suicide Squad on the weekend. I know, I've been putting it off. I guess I should trust my gut more often. Although I enjoyed the brief cameos by Batman/Bruce Wayne, and  The Flash. I thought the movie as a whole blew chunks. I didn't care for Harley Quinn (although they did her correct origin story) and I down right hated The Joker. Now some of this may stem from the over sexualized relationship between the two of them, but either way. I wouldn't have cared if they both died in the end.
The plot was weak, and there was little to no character development. Even the action sequences seemed contrived.
Oh well, at least they sold some toys, right?

Meet the First Lady to Draw Batman Since His Inception in 1939

Becky Cloonan became the first woman to draw Batman [update: first woman to draw Batman on the main title] since the superhero debuted in 1939. "It feels good to be the first," she says, "but I didn't think about it when I was drawing. I was just excited: I'm drawing Batman!"

Scott Snyder, one of the writers who worked with Cloonan on Batman, describes her as an artist with emotional depth:
I first became aware of Becky nearly ten years ago, with the great series, DEMO. What I've always loved about her work is its emotional expressiveness. She has an incredible ability to convey emotion in story. Not just through her characters - their facial expressions and nuanced body language - but also through her storytelling, through the directorial choices she makes, the angles chosen, the lines (sometimes crisp and dark, sometimes lush with brushwork). The bottom line is she's an incredibly empathetic storyteller, someone who brings a story to life on the page in such emotionally enveloping ways.

Casual Friday for Batman?

Casual Friday recently took an ugly turn when Batman showed up to stop a mugging wearing ratty sweatpants. Both the would-be mugger and his intended victim were unimpressed.

Guillermo Del Torro Asked Fans To Vote For ‘Hellboy III

Guillermo Del Torro tweeted out a challenge to Hellboy fans, did they wanted to see Hellboy III… and could they get over 100K votes in 24 hours. If both happened, then Del Torro promised to have sit-down meetings with the Ron Perlman (Hellboy actor) and Mike Mignola (Hellboy creator) about Hellboy III. As one would expect, fans picked up that challenge and ran with it easily making the 24-hour deadline. Here’s how it played out on Twitter last night.
I say HELL YES! too.

Affleck gets brutally honest as to why he’s hesitant to make ‘The Batman’

“Superhero movies get the level of attention that is nothing like any film I’ve done. You cast the 14th lead in these movies and the Internet goes crazy,” Affleck said. “I understand and embrace that. That’s part of the pressure that comes with doing it. That’s why I am not going to do it, unless I really feel confident about it.”
