Guillermo Del Torro Asked Fans To Vote For ‘Hellboy III

Guillermo Del Torro tweeted out a challenge to Hellboy fans, did they wanted to see Hellboy III… and could they get over 100K votes in 24 hours. If both happened, then Del Torro promised to have sit-down meetings with the Ron Perlman (Hellboy actor) and Mike Mignola (Hellboy creator) about Hellboy III. As one would expect, fans picked up that challenge and ran with it easily making the 24-hour deadline. Here’s how it played out on Twitter last night.
I say HELL YES! too.

I'm ending Hellboy to go paint watercolors instead

Read the whole article at the link above. It's good. I've always enjoyed Hellboy, and I had the pleasure of meeting Mignola at the Calgary Expo one year. Great guy, very engaging.

Mike Mignola’s Hellboy is one of the most widely praised and visually distinctive comics of the last three decades, spawning two critically acclaimed Guillermo Del Toro movies, several spin-off comic books and assorted paraphernalia from action figures to video games.
Now, the character’s high-contrast, minimalist adventures are concluding with the hero ending his days where he began them: hell itself, where Mignola says he has found unexpected artistic freedom. The final issue ships this Wednesday, 1 June.
Over 22 years writing and drawing Hellboy – the first comic was published in October 1994 – Mignola has won virtually every major award in comics, some of them several times. Now, he says, he wants to narrow his focus still further. Mignola has cleared his schedule so he can take up watercolor painting, which is not a medium he’s used to.

Hellboy 3 ?

Ron Perlman wants in!

Hellboy-5

One of the reasons Director Guillermo isn’t jumping to make the Hellboy films a trilogy is because he is afraid that the fan base isn’t big enough. Not being a Marvel or DC character I suppose Hellboy may get pushed aside out of the spotlight when it is released. Marvel have a film due to be released every 6 months-ish or so for the next 2 years. Persoanlly I love Hellboy’s character, everybody loves a bad boy and all the characters in the films are interesting and different and Ron Perlman has nailed the part in both films so far.

Calgary Expo Day 2 part 2

Mike Mignola!!!
Mr. Hellboy himself was the Comic Guest of Honor.Got to talk to him briefly, seemed nice but definitely irritated by the guy before me (yikes!!)
But tried to shake it off, Thanks Mike!
Mignola also had a limited edition print, made specifically for the Expo that I got signed, (even with a little sketch!!!) but it was too big to scan in.

Also, got to speak with Matt Frewer. Great guy!!! He's Canadian, eh! and Summer Glau. She was awesome with the crowds. Pleasant, didn't rush people through, but for Gawd's sake, have a cheeseburger once in a while!!!!!

Guillermo del Toro drops out of directing 'The Hobbit'

does this mean he can start working on a new "Hellboy"?

Guillermo del Toro will no longer direct "The Hobbit."
(EW.com) -- Guillermo del Toro will no longer direct "The Hobbit," but will continue for the next several months to polish the scripts for the two-part "Lord of the Rings" prequel alongside Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens, and Fran Walsh. Del Toro made the announcement Sunday via the J.R.R. Tolkien fan site TheOneRing.net.
"In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming 'The Hobbit,' I am faced with the hardest decision of my life," Del Toro said. "After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien's Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures. I remain grateful to Peter, Fran and Philippa Boyens, New Line and Warner Brothers and to all my crew in New Zealand. I've been privileged to work in one of the greatest countries on earth with some of the best people ever in our craft and my life will be forever changed. The blessings have been plenty, but the mounting pressures of conflicting schedules have overwhelmed the time slot originally allocated for the project. Both as a co-writer and as a director, I wish the production nothing but the very best of luck and I will be first in line to see the finished product. I remain an ally to it and its makers, present and future, and fully support a smooth transition to a new director."
