Red & White Calgary Comic & Toy Expo 2012

Good time at the Red & White Calgary Comic & Toy Expo 2012 this weekend. Took my son for the first time. He was a little overwhelmed but still had fun! Some great artists, and cosplayers! This show gets better every year! Well done guys! Check out their FB page here.

Mr. Hellboy himself was the Comic Guest of Honor.Got to talk to him briefly, seemed nice but definitely irritated by the guy before me (yikes!!)
But tried to shake it off, Thanks Mike!
Mignola also had a limited edition print, made specifically for the Expo that I got signed, (even with a little sketch!!!) but it was too big to scan in.

Also, got to speak with Matt Frewer. Great guy!!! He's Canadian, eh! and Summer Glau. She was awesome with the crowds. Pleasant, didn't rush people through, but for Gawd's sake, have a cheeseburger once in a while!!!!!

Calagry Expo Day 2

William Shatner!!!
Great to hear him speak and field questions. Rumor had it that there was approximately 5000 people there to see him, and boy, did he command the room. He has done so much in his life, and watch for a new documentary that he wrote and directed called, THE CAPTAINS. He went around and interviewed all the actors that ever played a Star Fleet Captain. very cool.

After seeing Shat-man speak, I headed to the floor!

Got a couple autographs, and was able to talk to him for a bit, (was lucky to have no one behind me in line for about 5 mins) He sketched while we spoke. Great man, very present to talk to.

Calgary Expo Day 1

I got down the the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo early today (VIPs got in 1.5 hours before everyone else) and my first stop was at a friend's booth. If you get a chance, stop by and see Mike at Two Gargoyles.
I got the newest project, THUNDER, (first issue) signed for my collection.

Max Headroom Coming to Calgary

One of my personal faves....Matt Frewer is coming to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo this June!!

Probably best know for Max Headroom, he has had numerous great Sci-Fi roles including Moloch the Mystic in the comic book based hit film Watchmen. He was also on Da Vinci's inquest (arguably the best TV series to come outta Canada) and a great series, SO FUNNY, that was cancelled...Doctor Doctor.
Also voiced of Sid the Squid in the Batman: The Animated Series episode "The Man Who Killed Batman"

Tia Carrere coming to Calgary!!!

Actress, Grammy-winning recording artist & producer is coming to the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo 2011

She will be joining other stars like William Shatner, Mike Mignola, and George A. Romero.

The one and only William Shatner is the 2011 Calgary Expo Sci-Fi guest of honor! Best known as Captain James T. Kirk from the original Star Trek series. Mr. Shatner will be appearing on Saturday only!

Now back to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo.
I met Marcus To, who was somewhat shy, I thought but opened up once you got talking to him. Great sense of humour and a modest guy, and of course I had to get a couple autographs.....oh and he's a Canadian too!!!!

Matt Wagner  the creator of Grendel, was at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo last weekend. I got to chat with him briefly, while he was signing my books. Great guy....looking forward to his upcoming work on Xanadu.

This is the first of 3 posts I'll be making about the CCEE.
The Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo was this weekend, and boy was it good. 1000's of people from all over western Canada came out. Special Guest was Leonard Nimoy of Star Trek fame....and most recently from the TV show FRINGE. He was "White Hatted" by Calgary Mayor Dave. If you aren't' from Calgary....it's like getting the key to the city. I was 4th in line to get Mr. Nimoy's autograph.

Sean Astin at CALGARY COMIC & ENTERTAINMENT EXPO

The big names are heading to Calgary this spring. The Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo is playing host to some star power individuals this April. Sean Astin and Matthew Lewis.
Sean's best known as

Samwise Gamgee

from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Mikey Walsh in The Goonies. Matthew Lewis portrays Neville Longbottom, in the widely popular HARRY PORTER series. He is a character that has an increasing importance with each chapter. He's been in all five films, and will also be appearing in the sixth film Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince later this year!

Holy Crap! did I ever geek out this weekend!
The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo was this past weekend and from this fans perspective, it was a great success!!!
