The FUTURE of Batman

bnr16_solicit
Straight from DC Comic's THE SOURCE

As THE NEW YORK POST broke this morning, not only will Bruce Wayne be returning to a new set of Batman duds, but his first sidekick, Dick Grayson, will continue to fight crime on the streets of Gotham as Batman, and under the banner of “Batman Inc.”
But what does that mean for the Batman titles moving forward?
We’ve got the breakdown for you here. Fear not.
Starting in November, DETECTIVE COMICS, BATMAN and BATMAN AND ROBIN will feature the ongoing adventures of Dick Grayson as Batman, with Damian as Robin. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne will take center stage in the pages of Grant Morrison and Yanick Paquette’s BATMAN INC. and writer/artist David Finch’s BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT.
What does this mean for Bruce and Dick Grayson? Can the world handle two Batmen? We can’t give everything away here, but we did manage to corner Batman Group Editor Mike Marts for a quick tease, and a look at an amazing spread from the first issue of BATMAN INC. Take it away, Mike:
“Just as readers were getting comfortable with the idea of former sidekick Dick Grayson playing the role of Batman, along comes Bruce Wayne’s triumphant return to the Cape and Cowl. Is Gotham City ready for two Batmen? Is the world? And who’s to say the fun will end there?”

Jason Todd a Robin with tattered wings.

Some interesting perspective here............
Jason Todd a Robin with tattered wings. - West Palm Beach Comic Books | Examiner.com
In 1983, darkness in the guise of innocence would be born into the DC Universe. As the original Robin, Dick Grayson, was now known by the name Nightwing, Batman was in need of a replacement Robin to stand by his side. The new Robin would appear as the young innocent Jason Todd.
Though Jason’s original origin story showed as a mirror image to that of Dick Grayson’s, the two would ultimately grow to be two vastly different Robins. When first told, Jason was a young circus performer whose parents were killed by Killer Croc. Jason was then adopted by Bruce Wayne, had his red hair dyed black, and took to wearing Dick Grayson’s old Robin costume. To Batman, it was like the good old times; but in Gotham City, nothing good last.

The Web Head on the Great White Way

I've blogged about this before here and here. But it looks like after a few hiccoughs this might actually get off the ground.

The long-delayed Broadway show "Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark" announced today that previews will start November 14th and it will open on December 21st at the Foxwoods Theatre, which used to be the Hilton.

Directed by Julie Taymor and featuring music and lyrics by U2's Bono and The Edge, "Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark" stars Reeve Carney as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Jennifer Damiano as Mary Jane Watson and Patrick Page as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin.

Check out the official site for more info.

Of course it is interesting to note that a Batman Musical was in the works during the Burton film years. It never got off the ground, but check out this link to find more info on it and enjoy some of the music.  Music was written by Jim Steinman of Meatloaf fame.

Superman saves Family.....sorta

A struggling family facing foreclosure has stumbled upon what is considered to be the Holy Grail of comic books in their basement – a fortuitous find that could fetch upwards of a quarter million dollars at auction.
A copy of Action Comics No. 1, the first in which Superman ever appeared, was discovered as they went about the painful task of packing up a home that had been in the family since at least the 1950s. The couple, who live in the South with their children, asked to remain anonymous.
"The bank was about ready to foreclose," said Vincent Zurzolo, co-owner of ComicConnect.com and Metropolis Comics and Collectibles in New York. "Literally, this family was in tears. The family home was going to be lost and they're devastated. They can't figure out a way out of this. They start packing things up. They go into the basement and start sifting through boxes – trying to find packing boxes – and they stumble on eight or nine comic books."

The Canadian Sheild!!!!

Here is the first instalment of a webTV series from Heroes of the North
The premise.....(similar to Captain America) a government super soldier and his crew disappear during WW2 only to re-surface decades later and fight crime.
Personally, I love it. Canadian superheroes!!!! in the great vein of Captain Canuck.
