Batman Comic Strips that have never been Re-Printed Until Now

This great book from IDW gives us a second volume of the 1960s Silver Age comic strips in their original glory. These are strips that you literally couldn’t have seen until now, unless you had saved the original newspapers that they were printed in. The strips are reprinted in their original format, with the Sunday editions in color and the dailies in black and white. The book features all kinds of adventures that you’ve never seen before, including all the characters we love like Batman, Robin, Alfred, Catwoman, Batgirl and more.

Adventures of Captain Marvel

http://comicsalliance.com/history-of-comic-book-movies-captain-marvel/

The number one movie of last year was based on a comic book. The year before, two of the top five movies were based on comics. The year before that, both of the two top movies of the year were inspired by comics; both went on to make more than $1 billion worldwide and are now among the top 15 highest-grossing movies in history. Next year, no less than ten (10) movies based on comic books will open in theaters. Blessed are the geeks, for they have inherited the earth, at least as far as Hollywood is concerned.
There was a time, not that long ago, when comic books were a niche subculture
I can remember watching these on TVO (TV Ontario, public TV) when I was a kid. I loved them! But then again, when you’re 5-6 you don’t have that great taste. HA!

Dark Knight Trilogy vs. The Comics

http://www.superherohype.com/features/334663-from-comics-to-movies-visual-references-in-the-dark-knight-trilogy
We’re quickly approaching the return of Batman to the big screen. The Dark Knight has had a long history at the movies, and he shows no signs of stopping any time soon. Though it has been a few years since the series concluded, Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” trilogy is still a topic of discussion among fans with the middle entry cited by many as their favorite/the best superhero movie ever. So despite Ben Affleck taking over in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the love for those three films isn’t going anywhere.Check out the link above for more references and WAY MORE photos.

Batman Limited Edition Collection

In this tense 60-second short film, Grammy-nominated director Edson Oda brings the seedy underbelly of Gotham City alive on the pages of Moleskine notebooks to celebrate the launch of the Moleskine Batman Limited Edition Collection. Batman arrives on the cover of a Moleskine notebook – one of five designs that celebrate the urban superhero's comic book heritage. The ivory-colored pages inside the notebooks are for sketching your own Batsuit, Batsignal or sinister cityscapes. Themed stickers are contained in the back pocket.

The Man Who Gave Us BATMAN

http://www.rattleandhumsports.com/michael-e-uslan-man-behind-batman-film-franchise/#.VLfboXtImGu

Michael E. Uslan is the executive producer of the highly successful “Batman” film franchise that began in 1989, featuring Michael Keaton as the caped crusader and portraying Jack Nicholson as the Joker. The blockbuster movie, directed by Tim Burton, was a real game-changer that opened the floodgates for superhero fantasy films to flourish and in the process transcended the genre forever. Since that time Uslan, with his long-time mentor and co-producer Benjamin Melniker, have gone on to produce “Batman Returns” (1992), “Batman Forever” (1995), “Batman & Robin” (1997) and “The Dark Knight” trilogy which started in 2005 with “Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises”. The latter two films are two of the top-grossing films in history.

Joker Cosplay = Perfection

Never let it be said The Joker isn’t the sentimental type. After all, he maintains a trophy wall, as depicted in a 2005 commission by Brian Bolland. With a lot of work, and some help from friends, cosplayer Anthony Misiano (aka Harley’s Joker) has brought that illustration to life in an unnerving homage.
“Believe it or not, altogether roughly 45 photos were used in the final composition, 16 of which just for the Joker alone,” Misiano wrote on Facebook. “You’d never guess how much work really does go into it all.”

Joker, an Evolution.

Smithsonian displays Wonder Woman’s invisible jet

Getting into the spirit of the day, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum has unveiled its limited exhibition of Wonder Woman’s invisible jet. Not content with a simple press release, the museum went all out for this April Fools’ joke, publishing an article and creating a video showing the jet’s installation and care.
The aircraft is purportedly on loan from the Museum of Flight in Seattle, which acquired it in April 2013 “with help from Lieutenant Diana Prince.”

“The trick for the National Air and Space Museum was to display the plane in its jet formation,” explains museum specialist Beth Wilson. “The plane has only been displayed publicly in the propeller configuration. The new design was made possible by the plane’s shape-shifting properties. Although The Museum of Flight staff was concerned about this formation change, they worked with our conservation staff so that the shift was safe and temporary. […] Other features on this jet include shape shifting, telepathic abilities, and multi-dimensional transport. Although the jet was invisible the passengers were not, and they often appeared to float on the clouds. It should be mentioned that even though Wonder Woman can fly under her own powers, the plane has come in handy when needed to transport Etta Candy and the Holliday Girls as well as Steve Trevor and others.”
