Calgary Expo Day 2

GONG SHOW!!! but what do you expect when you have so many A-list guests coming to one spot. The staff at the Expo were great!
Today was about Walter and Astrid of FRINGE!
I know this sounds cliche, but .... the nicest people you would want to meet!  Very pleasant to talk to and grounded and funny.

The panel session they had was great, good questions, intelligent answers,  Jasika doesn't like the cow on set, John's ability to "fake" being high is questionable.

Superheroes at the MET!

http://www.metmuseum.org/exhibitions/listings/2008/superheroes

The statue featuring superheroes Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman was displayed during a media preview for the Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The symbolic and metaphorical associations between fashion and the superhero are explored in this compelling exhibition. Featuring movie costumes, avant-garde haute couture, and high-performance sportswear, it reveals how the superhero serves as the ultimate metaphor for fashion and its ability to empower and transform the human body. Objects are organized thematically around particular superheroes, whose movie costumes and superpowers are catalysts for the discussion of key concepts of superheroism and their expression in fashion.

Comic Book Confidential

Made in 1988, Ron Mann’s classic Comic Book Confidential was way ahead of its time. Mann, a master of documenting alternative cultures, set his sights on the history of the comic book industry—an industry that once was reviled for its violent content or considered too mainstream. Mann sits down with more than 20 of the most significant comic artists and writers in North America (including heavyweights such as Stan Lee, Frank Miller, Harvey Kurtzman and Gary Panter) and examines how our current cultural fabric has quietly been influenced by this warts-and-all alternative art form. Batman, 'Smallville' lead DC Comics' digital charge – USATODAY.com

The publisher's digital line ramps up its original content beginning today with the debut of Smallville: Season 11, a weekly continuation every Friday of the long-running TV series based on the Superman mythos penned by show writer Bryan Q. Miller.
Next month sees the launch of Ame-Comi Girls, a weekly series available on Mondays based on DC's product line featuring Japanese manga-style versions of Wonder Woman and other superheroines written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray.
And on Thursdays beginning in June, a new digital Batman series will showcase stories of the Dark Knight outside of regular DC Comics continuity and feature artists and writers such as Ben Templesmith, Steve Niles, B. Clay Moore, Nicola Scott and Joshua Hale Fialkov. One all-star issue teams writer — and Lost co-creator —Damon Lindelof with artist Jeff Lemire (Animal Man, Sweet Tooth).

Legends of the Knight film for fans

LEGENDS OF THE KNIGHT is a feature-length documentary film about this truth. And we are capturing it through the lens of one of the most popular myths of our time – The Batman. But this movie isn’t about Batman. It’s about us. It is about who we are as people & who we desire to become. The most important Batman tales are not in comic books, TV shows, or Hollywood movies. They are within the people for whom the Dark Knight has become a symbol.

Batman named greatest comic hero

http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2012/feb/28/batman-greatest-comic-hero?INTCMP=SRCH

Like I didn't know this already, but it's nice to have some validation, right?

Batman ... knocking out the competition Photograph: Jerry Robinson/AP
Batman's utility belt doesn't really compare to the superpowers of Spider-Man and Superman, but Gotham City's caped crusader has nonetheless been named the greatest comic hero of all time.
The readers of Comic Heroes magazine voted for Batman, the alias of billionaire Bruce Wayne, as their top comic hero, ahead of the second-placed Spider-Man and the third-placed Superman. The magazine is not the first to rank heroes from the world of comics: in 2008 Empire magazine put Superman top, followed by Batman and John Constantine, the exorcist created by Alan Moore, while the Man of Steel also topped a list from IGN.
