The Flash on @CW_TheFlash

For those of you who don't know, Shipp played Barry Allen in the 1990 version of The Flash. Here is the statement :
Given his history with The Flash, Andrew [Kreisberg], Geoff [Johns] and I could only think of one person we wanted to play Barry's father and that was John Wesley Shipp," Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti said in a statement. "He gives a fantastic and emotional performance in the pilot and we are looking forward to his presence in many more episodes. Also, personally, it was just wonderful to work with him again since my days at Dawson's Creek. He's a great actor and a great guy.

#HarleyQuinn on @ArrowCW

"She was always intended to be an Easter egg. I don’t want people to go in with incorrect expectations and walk away from Episode 16 disappointed. But there is an element to the Easter egg that was not spoiled by the promo, that I think people will find a lot of fun."

Thanks to Michael Rowe, who plays Deadshot in the series, we have our first real look at Harley Quinn, as portrayed by actress Cassidy Alexa. He posted the set photo above to his instagram page. From left to right in the photo we have John Diggle, Shrapnel, Lyla, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, and Bronze Tiger.

Canada's forgotten superheroes

This year’s Doug Wright Awards, which recognizes excellence in Canadian comics and cartooning, will be honouring the Canadian Whites, a group of artists and comics that birthed a roster of forgotten Canadian heroes in the World War II era. Two living members of the group will be on hand to accept the Giants of the North hall of fame award on Saturday evening in Toronto. The awards are a feature event at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival.

#TheFlash Extended Trailer! #dontblink

In a follow up to my previous post (here)

Bill Finger, Michael Uslan, and the inspiration for #Gotham

Noblemania: Bill Finger, Michael Uslan, and the inspiration fo...: The clever Michael Uslan (producer of every movie with Batman in it since 1989) had a brainstorm to hunt for a fun — and pivotal — piece of...cultural history.

Bill Finger named Batman's city after seeing a phone book listing for "Gotham Jewelers," and Michael found a February 1938 ad for the company in a digital newspaper archive. Here's another, from June, from the same Yonkers, NY paper:

Blule's work artfully captures superheroes in just a few colors. Splatters, drips, and the bleed of colors into each other gives a fantastic sense of motion to the icons she's chosen as subjects. Below, see more of Blule's work. More can be seen (and prints bought) at her store.

#BatmanTAS opening sequence. Fan versions.

I have no idea why I've never seen any of these before?!?! But I came across a link that was talking about Batman TAS and the live-action versions of it's opening. Here's what I found.

This one has taken clips from the Burton Batman movies to create this homage.

This one has borrowed from the Nolan Franchise.

BUT, in this one, the creator has actually re-created the opening sequence as it was originally shown.Very cool.

Great panel discussion on #Batman75

Marc Tyler Nobleman joining Michael Uslan, Chip Kidd, Kevin Smith, and Kevin Conroy on a panel Mark also had the honor to name (and recap), “Batman at 75: To All a Dark Knight.”

#Joker is going to be in #Gotham

Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller discussed the DC comics-based series, and he had some compelling things to say about the world they are creating.
He's the crown jewel of the Batman villains. He will be brought in with great care and a lot of thought."

#Gotham Full Trailer!

Batman's Traumatic Origins

This is a little heavy, but inspiring at the same time.
Years ago I became aware that a particular superhero, who has entertained millions of people, had special appeal to the traumatized children who visited my office. I had a hunch that a trauma had inspired the creation of this superhero. See if you think my hunch was correct.

Kane advised that, “Bruce Wayne should be played as a psychologically disturbed eccentric.” Then he admitted, “I drew Bruce Wayne in my own image.”
Bruce Wayne describes the trauma as the night “all sense left my life.” This is the changed attitude about life that is a hallmark of traumatized children.

#AdamWest Reflects on #batman

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/original-batman-adam-west-reflects-699804

At first, DC Comics didn't much like the fact that we were not serious enough for adults. However, when they saw their book sales dramatically increase, they began to love us, as did the Japanese color TV manufacturers. They became big fans, of course. Our TV series and our older Batman movie tuned in to the vivid colors and escapism of the '60s.

#Gotham Teaser Trailer!!

The new trailer for the new Batman TV series Gotham, which will star Ben McKenzie as Detective Jim Gordon on the hunt for the man responsible for the murders of Bruce Wayne’s parents. The trailer gives us a quick rundown of the younger versions of such notorious Gotham City criminals as the Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman and Poison Ivy, all while showing us the boy who would eventually grow up to become Batman.
