Bat-Pod?
Motorcycles. Vietnam has a lot of them. So how do you set yourself apart from the crowd whilst cruising through the streets? How about trying to make your ride look like the Batpod? While it's not the ideal setup for a pod lookalike (note the non rotating front tire, the fact he's sitting up), it is a noble effort

Bat-pod
I realize this isn't new anymore...but with speculation on the new Bat-vechile in The Dark Knight Rises, I thought it would be cool to go back and look at the Bat-pod from DK.
Enjoy.

Custom Batvan ala Japan
Although custom vans are just a bad memory in North America, they are still hugely popular in Japan. The Bat-van is the result of one van owner's decision to mix a serious love of Batman with Japan's extreme custom van culture.
Japan has a knack for taking American ideas and putting a unique spin on them. Although the custom van craze of the 70s may have originated in America, it is clear when you lay eyes on the Batvan that Japan has made custom van culture their own.
Looking at the Bat-van is overwhelming to the senses. The huge fibreglass wings and body kit mixed with the Batman theme produces something that looks more like animation then the real world. You have to wonder if the top wings or front overhang are removable for highway travel.

Own a Batpod From The Dark Knight For a Mere $100,000
Own a Batpod From The Dark Knight For a Mere $100,000
Want to own the Batpod, Batman's motorcycle from The Dark Knight? Well, this one-of-a-kind working 1:1 replica of it could be yours for a mere $100,000 or best offer. Warning: you will definitely kill yourself trying to ride it.
Luckily, they make that harder to do by shipping it with one chain removed so it won't be ridable. It isn't street legal, after all! But if you were to put that chain back on, it'd be running a "high output 650cc 4 stroke, water cooled engine with direct port nitrous injection." Of course, only one stunt driver in the world was able to handle the one used in the film, but I'm sure it wasn't that hard. Right? CHECK OUT THIS LINK, TOO!

Batmobile in Cambodia
This picture was taken in Cambodia by a tourist. It's a "Cambodian Batman Taxi". It's a large Bicycle-Cart that is pulled by a Moped Motorcycle. They call these things TUK-TUK's. There is actually an entire sub-culture revolving around these very unique vehicles. nifty!!

Dark Knight's Bat-Pod Took Up-Armored Road From Garage to Set
This article is from Popular Mechanics, and tells us a little more about the design of the now famous Bat-pod.
Re-inventing the motorcycle for the Caped Crusader took more than green screens and gadgets. Chris Nolan and Co. built a custom bike from plumbing parts and modded exhaust tubing, then loaded it with weapons and prayed the world's best stuntman on two wheels didn't fall off. The DIYers behind this summer blockbusterm take PM for an exclusive look at the making of Batman's new ride.

Build your own Dark Knight Go-Kart!!!!
Tully Sanem built his homemade Batmobile go-kart in the small garage behind his apartment after seeing advertisements for “The Dark Knight” last year. Sanem hopes to sell schematics to others who want to build their own superhero vehicle.

“It's kind of strange when I was building it - everything just fell into place,” Sanem said. “It's kind of written in the stars.”

The Best of Batman's Tech
More from TVguide.ca
Gotta love all the Batman coverage going on out there. I can't get enough.
It's hard not to like Batman. He's the only super-hero who gets by purely on his own wits and physical abilities. No super-powers for the man in the bat-cape.
