Batmobile Replicas for Sale

Holy tricked-out ride, Batman! The '60s-style Batmobile is now available -- for those with Bruce Wayne bank accounts -- in life-sized replica form.
DC Comics has officially licensed Fiberglass Freaks to re-create, down to the flame throwers (working, natch), the futuristic car that the Caped Crusader drove in the 1960s TV series.
For $150,000, you too could keep Gotham City safe. Or at least look really, really cool while sitting in traffic.
Each car frame is built around a 1970s Lincoln Town Car. And only eight of these hand-crafted beauties roll off the factory floor each year. Company founder Mark Racop has been perfecting the design pretty much his entire life, way before he got the official go-ahead. According to his website, the Batmobile-obsessive fell in love with the car from the show at the tender age of two.

The cars are road-ready and come equipped with a GM 350 crate engine, Radir wheels with custom bat spinners, and a paint job only a superhero wanna-be could love. And need we mention the bat-wing shaped tail fins? This car gives new meaning to joy ride.
And because these wheels are pimped up, the 1966 Batmobile also comes equipped with  some very 2010 additions: a DVD player with LCD screen in the dash (to play re-runs of the series, obviously) and a high-end stereo to blast the "Batman" theme song.

Five hundred dollars.
When people talk about putting regular, old-fashioned comic books online, keep that $500 in mind.
That's about how much it costs for an average page of comic book art, in terms of labour. Figure $100 for the writer, $150 for the penciller, $130 for the inker, $90 for the colorist, and $30 for the letterer. Those numbers go up and down depending on talent and publishers, but that's a nice round number for us to work with.
Let's consider another number: 22. That's the average page count for a monthly comic book story. It's also the number of pages most average pencillers can produce a month. Neat coincidence.
Now start multiplying. That means a penciller will make $3300 a month, or $39,600 a year. With covers, round that up to $42 grand a year. Not a lot of cash there. And the penciller's the highest paid talent on the book. A writer will make $2200 a month, and nobody pays him to write covers. He'll probably have to write two books a month to make his nut. And so on.

Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark Villains

So first impressions....."lets have two villains that look the same with spiky things sticking out everywhere".
I've blogged about this before, here and here. The Broadway debut of Spiderman.We'll have to wait and see on this one. They have some big names behind the production....but will people actually pay to see it. Based on these pics, I think not.

Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark Villains – First Images

After a long wait and multiple delays, the new Marvel Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is going to debut in November. The first image of the villains and a song (written by U2′s Bono and Edge) debuted on Good Morning America today. The image above is of the Green Goblin and Swiss Miss (a knife-based villainess created for the musical).

I loved the original Spiderman cartoon!!! Used to watch it all the time as a kid (and now , when I have time, on TeleToon Retro!!) That, and The Ramones RULE!

The Ramones cover of the 1966 Spider-Man cartoon theme is going to be included in the newest Guitar Hero game titled Warriors of Rock. That’s fantastic news for any Spider-fan.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock will be available on September 28 for Wii, XBox 360 and Playstation 3.

The Dark Knight is a part of our culture.  From the comic books to the Christopher Nolan movies, Batman is a favorite of children and adults alike.  He is a masked vigilante that does the things we  might fantasize about, but wouldn’t consider because of the consequences.  I think one of the biggest draws about Batman is that he is just a normal guy.  He didn’t come from outer space, he isn’t a mad scientist with futuristic weaponry, and he isn’t a mutant that can transform into something otherworldly.  He’s a guy.  A rich guy, yes, albeit, he could be you or me.  Searching the information banks, I’ve come up with five things you might not know about this caped crusader.  He’s a pretty complex guy and so were the people who created him.

Batman is a fictional character created by the artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger. A comic book superhero, Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939, and since then has appeared in many of DC Comics’ publications. Originally referred to as “the Bat-Man” and still referred to at times as “the Batman”, he is additionally known as “the Caped Crusader”, “The Dark Knight”, and “the World’s Greatest Detective”.   It was the Golden Age of comics and everyone wanted to capitalize on the success of Superman; including National Publications, Superman’s own publisher. So they turned to artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, two on-staff comic book writers. When the Caped Crusader made his debut in May 1939 in Detective Comics No. 27 entitled The Case of the Chemical Syndicate Batman had neither sidekick nor gadget belt and he drove around in a bright red sedan. Yet, Batman was fierce — showing no remorse when tossing an evildoer into a vat of acid.  Kane had only been working on comic books for three years when he produced this superhero.  He was 24 years old.

It attracts an international audience including cartoonists, comics scholars, fans, collectors and students. Registration is capped at 275 participants in order to assure that all attendees have a quality experience at this unique conference. The Festival is a place where cartoon enthusiasts and creators come together, exchange ideas, and share their passion for comics and cartoons.

Bane is one of the most interesting characters to appear in the DC Universe in the last 2 decades! But, when I say that.....I'm talking about his origin in the comics. NOT the film versions which have been hokey and dumb. In the comics he's smart, educated...brains and brawn.  Here's a little clip form BATMAN: Arkham Asylum.

I gotta admit that these pics look GREAT!!! The detail and expressions on some of the faces is stellar.
