The Batman Store

http://www.slashfilm.com/photos-batman-returns-batman-store/
Just in time for Christmas?
Apparently, in an early version of Tim Burton‘s Batman Returns, one scene took place at a Batman-themed store.
In the script, the store was promptly destroyed, but eventually the scene got cut at some point anyway. The set was built, though, and one website has some incredible photos of it. Check out the Batman Returns Batman store below.
Thanks to 1989Batman.com (via Reddit) for the awesome photos. Head there for even more behind the scenes stuff including excerpts from the script describing this scene.

More Joker History

Gwynplaine’s (Conrad Veidt) fixed grin and disturbing clown-like appearance was a key inspiration for comic book talents writer Bill Finger and artist Bob Kane in creating Batman’s greatest enemy, The Joker.
Taken from the 1928 film The Man Who Laughs.

Death of the Joker??

Little Fact That You Might Not Know About The Joker - He Was Almost Killed Off Despite being Batman’s all-time greatest nemesis, The Joker very nearly didn’t make it past his first issue. The early Dark Knight appearances – inspired by their more vicious pulp magazine roots – were characterised by a lot more death, murder and Batman wielding a handgun than the later iterations of the hero, and the Ace Of Knaves very nearly fell prey to it. He made his first appearance in 1940’s Batman #1, and was slated to be killed off in the very next issue. The final page saw the defeated villain accidentally stabbed himself, and the Dynamic Duo legging it. Presumably so that they don’t get the rap for it. Most of the bad guys in those early comics were only supposed to make one-off appearances, but then-editor Whitney Ellsworth passed down a mandate deciding the character was too good to be bumped off. So the last panel was hastily redrawn, and then in every other appearance it looked like he died off-screen, only to return the following month.

Visual History of The #Batmobile

http://www.highsnobiety.com/2014/11/13/10-iconic-batman-vehicles-illustrated/
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Batman franchise, we first documented The Complete History of Batman in TV and Film and now present 10 illustrated versions of Batman’s iconic vehicles by David Lo exclusively for .... Highsnobiety. While most will associate the Dark Knight’s vehicle of choice with Christopher Nolan’s Tumbler, the Caped Crusader has in fact driven a handful of cars, each a symbol of the era through its combination of design, function and technology.

It's online ready to purchase!
A great tribute to the Canadian Comic Industry.
Lost Heroes is the story of these forgotten Canadian comic book superheroes and their legendary creators. Recovering a forgotten part of our nation’s pop culture, Lost Heroes is the story of a national treasure that few of us have ever heard about. It’s the story of a small country striving to create its own heroes but finding itself constantly out-muscled by better-funded and better-marketed heroes from the media empire next door. It’s the story of Canada striving for more than seventy years to have its own band of national comic book superheroes, but constantly failing to keep them alive. The question is: why?

Man Spends Two Years Building Iconic 1989 Car

I have posted about this guy before, but here's a great video featuring the car in action and some great behind the scene work that went into it.

THIS is/was the 1st #Batmobile

In 1956, DC Comics (then called National Periodical Publications) officially licensed the first Batmobile to Oldsmobile. Forrest Robinson and friend Len Perham began modifying the car in 1960. They finished their work in 1963, beating the Burt Ward / Adam West Batman series by three years. The car is based on what the dynamic duo drives in the comic books; it's a far sleeker (if smaller) car than the 1939 Cadillac driven in the Batman movie serials of the 1940s.

For the Bat-Record....

I GOTTA get one of these! So cool.

Forget Christian Bale and Chris Nolan, Michael Keaton and Tim Burton, or even Frank Miller; everyone knows that the truly greatest Batman is the one from Bruce Timm and Paul Dini’s seminal Batman: The Animated Series which ran from 1992-99 in various incarnations. Now Mondo is helping to celebrate the Dark Knight’s 75th Anniversary in style, with an all-new vinyl pressing of the show’s original theme song from composer Danny Elfman (Oingo Boingo), as well as the end credits music. (Side-A will have the opening title and end credits as they appeared in the show, Side-B will have alternate versions.) This will be a 12″ die-cut version of the single, in the shape of the bat-signal, and it will come housed in a gatefold jacket designed by Phantom City Creative, and will be pressed on Black and Black with Gray Splatter vinyl.

Did you know this about The Dark Knight?

http://thealien-moviebuffs.com/20-things-you-didn-t-know-about-the-dark-knight?page=1&v=d25IGXRVhbK5kvDh8ay8OGVE1xHjqm0gk
Some of these we've heard before, some are now. Either way, a good list for any fan of the Nolan-verse Batman!

Much as he cast Christian Bale before the script for Batman Begins had been finalized, Christopher Nolan spoke to actor Heath Ledger about playing the Joker long before a script had been written. Ledger had actually met with Nolan about playing Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins, but it was more a formality than anything else, as Ledger flat out told Nolan that he had in interest whatsoever in appearing in a “comic book” movie.

The role has reportedly been filled by Hunger Games actress Jena Malone and was first reported by Michigan television station WILX 10, which was advised by a source on condition of anonymity.

Keaton thought Batman 3 Sucked!

He was supposed to come back for a third Batman film, but once Burton's film was ditched by the studio in favor of Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever things took a turn for the worse. The studio offered Keaton $15 million dollars to reprise his role as the Dark Knight in the film, but he turned it down. CBS Sunday Morning asked why he turned it down and he gave one simple answer,
"Sucked. Yeah, it just was awful!"
