Say NO to Watchmen 2

Check out this image!
Over the holiday break the rumors of a possible prequel to The Watchmen flared up again. The ever reliable Bleeding Cool had posted some artwork from a project code named Panic Room. A Night Owl image by Joe Kubert and Andy Kubertthe Comedian by JG Jones and that Amanda Conner was working on Silk Spectre. Those pictures didn’t last long, DC had the rabid lawyers on the attack and Christmas was saved! Read more at the link above.

The great debate...

Blockbusters like “The Dark Knight” and “Watchmen” continue to produce major revenue for movie studios, but are the flawed heroes of these popular films really deserving of our adoration? This week, comic book super-fans Ian Boothby and David Pryde engage in an epic battler over whether comic book superheroes make good role models. Next up on our double bill of laughs and logic, comic Greg Morton uses many a funny voice to prove to Ron Sparks that “Star Wars” is better than “Lord of the Rings.” Once again “The Debaters” brings you epic battles of fact and funny.
The Debaters can be heard Wednesday at 11:30 on CBC Radio One.
Here is a clip from the show.

BATMAN vs. WATCHMEN

OK, not really verses......but
The Dark Knight is to movies, what Watchmen was/is to comics. Legitimization.
We all know by now that Dark Knight won 2 Academy Awards in February, including Best Supporting Actor for Heath Ledger. This represents the first time that a comic book movie has been awarded an Oscar. Comic book movies have always been main-stream, but only because of the fans. Now the critics are involved...giving the greatest "thumbs up" a picture can get.
The same was true for The Watchmen. When it was first published, it was the first graphic novel to appear on the New York Time's best seller list. Once again, the comic book genera is getting critical acclaim.
No longer are comic geeks crouching in shadows....we are out in the main stream making normal people fell uneasy and unworthy.
Why so serious?

Watchmen

I just starting reading The Watchmen...again. I'm looking forward to the Zak Snyder movie very much. However, like any serious fanboy, I'm torn. Yes, I'm excited to see the characters come to life on the big screen, but I'm also cautious. Will Zak f**ked this up!?!?! Will it live up to the hype?? Will why wife ever understand why I like comics???
Anyway, here's the latest trailer....looks great so far.
