Thomas Wayne?

Warner Bros. has hired Alec Baldwin to appear opposite Joaquin Phoenix in its “Joker” origin film, playing the role of Thomas Wayne, the father of Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne.
Variety first reported that Phoenix was in talks to play the Clown Prince of Crime. As soon as his deal was finalized, the studio gave the greenlight to a September start date with a budget in the moderate $55 million dollar range.
Todd Phillips (“The Hangover” franchise) is on board to co-write and direct. Jared Leto will not appear in this Joker film. Leto played the Joker in 2016’s “Suicide Squad” and is expected to be back for the “Suicide Squad” sequel, along with another standalone Joker movie that will be separate from Phoenix’s Joker project.

Check out this great little piece of Bat-history from my friend Joey!

**Fun facts: the issues features the second-last Batman comic before he adopted his "new look", with more serious stories and a yellow oval around his emblem. (The final comic, Batman #163, appeared the following week, in March 5.)
**This issue marked the end of the "Martian Manhunter" feature in Detective Comics, which had been running since Detective Comics #225 (November, 1955), an issue that many people feel marked the beginning of the "Silver Age" of comics. The feature would move over to "The House of Mystery" the following month.
**DC gets its name from the initials of this comic - the first comic it published that featured all new material based on a single theme.

A Friendly Reminder that Comic Books Still Count as Reading

“You can’t have those,” the man said to his son, nodding his head towards the stack of comic books the boy had grabbed from the library’s shelves.
“Why not?” the boy asked.
“Because comic books aren’t real books, you need to get proper books. Those don’t count.” :( :( :(

RC Lego Batmobile Is Your Puppy's Worst Nightmare

The new 321-piece set is essentially a remote-controlled car, and that car happens to be a modern Batmobile. The design resembles the vehicle in the Christopher Nolan Batman movies, so it has a beefier, tactical sort of feel. This actually comes into play when you’re actually driving it around, too.

Reeves offers exciting ‘The Batman’ updates

“We are working on getting our draft [in] the next couple weeks,” Reeves said. “Right now, my head is totally into the script. Right now, I’m going to be leaving here to go back to work on the script.”
So when will The Batman begin filming? “What we’ve talked about is hopefully in the spring or early summer, something like that,” Reeves said.
As for who will be playing Batman? According to /Film, “Reeves said he was still speaking with Affleck, but was coy about who might play the caped crusader in the film.” But he did seem to stand by his comments from last year that the movie will be part of the DCEU.
“There are ways in which all of this connects to DC, to the DC universe as well,” Reeves said. “We’re one piece of many pieces so I don’t want to comment on that except to say that I’m focused very specifically on this aspect of the DC world.”
