Reeves Talks About His Take on Batman

"I just felt like well, what I’d love to do is to get a version of this Batman character where he’s not yet fully formed. Where there’s something to do in this context with who that guy would be in this world today, and to ground him in all of these broken ways. Because at the end of the day, this guy is doing all of this to deal with trauma in his past."

by co-stars Shea Whigham and Bill Camp whom will be playing two Gotham

Thomas Wayne?

Warner Bros. has hired Alec Baldwin to appear opposite Joaquin Phoenix in its “Joker” origin film, playing the role of Thomas Wayne, the father of Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne.
Variety first reported that Phoenix was in talks to play the Clown Prince of Crime. As soon as his deal was finalized, the studio gave the greenlight to a September start date with a budget in the moderate $55 million dollar range.
Todd Phillips (“The Hangover” franchise) is on board to co-write and direct. Jared Leto will not appear in this Joker film. Leto played the Joker in 2016’s “Suicide Squad” and is expected to be back for the “Suicide Squad” sequel, along with another standalone Joker movie that will be separate from Phoenix’s Joker project.

New Joker Movie??

Well this Is news. Good news, though? I don't think so.

According to Variety, Jared Leto is set to star in and executive produce his very own Joker movie. The plan is for Warner Bros. to build out the world that it created with Suicide Squad.
Margot Robbie is getting her own Harley Quinn “girl gang” movie, and now Leto has his own Joker movie. Both will take place within a Suicide Squad Universe, according to Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and Collider.
Warner Bros. has also been working on a separate Joker movie with director Todd Phillips, and Joaquin Phoenix has been in talks to star. No word on how today’s news about Jared Leto’s Joker movie will affect that project. Update: Deadline says the Phillips Joker movie is still in the works.

The Batman director Matt Reeves on his vision for the solo film

The Batman director Matt Reeves on his vision for the solo film

Warner Bros. Pictures recently brought on director Matt Reeves to helm their upcoming solo movie The Batman, although he is far too busy putting the finishing touches on 20th Century Fox’s War for the Planet of the Apes to have gotten too deep into it already. Nevertheless, the Batman director recently told Los Angeles Daily News about his vision for the Caped Crusader.

“It’s a strange thing to be involved in the two franchises which were the two that I was connected to most as a child,” Reeves said. “I just was obsessed with Batman when I was a kid. What I find so interesting about him as a character is that, as far a superhero goes, he’s not superhuman, he is a person. And he is a tortured soul who is grappling with his past and trying to find a way to be in a world that has a lot that’s wrong with it and trying to find a way to reconcile all of that.”

Heath Ledger’s sisters say....

Joker role in ‘The Dark Knight’ had nothing to do with his death

A documentary about Heath Ledger’s life called I Am Heath Ledger will air on Spike TV next month. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend, and Ledger’s sisters Kate Ledger and Ashleigh Bell were there to debunk a popular, yet unfounded rumor about their brother’s untimely death.
We know that Heath Ledger took his role in The Dark Knight very seriously. You can see that up on the screen as you watch his Oscar-winning performance as The Joker. But as the rumor goes… all the darkness associated with The Joker took a toll on Ledger, leaving him depressed, which led to his drug overdose. According to Ledger’s sisters, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“Everything that came to light about the Joker, we were all so confused,” Kate said. She and Bell went on to call speculation that the role made their brother depressed “so not true.”
“Honestly, it was the absolute opposite,” Kate went on. “He had an amazing sense of humor, and I guess maybe only his close family and friends really knew that, but he was having fun. He wasn’t depressed about the Joker.”

Whaaat?

Late last year it was reported that Apple was in talks with major Hollywood movie studios to bring movie rentals to iTunes just two weeks after they hit theaters. Today, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara said that there has been a lot of progress made on this new streaming service. Variety has the quotes below.
“We’re making a lot of progress,” Tsujihara said during a call with analysts on Wednesday, adding, “We’re aggressively working with exhibitors to talk about models that will grow the market instead of cannibalizing the market.”
“Part of the reason that’s driving this is consumers and the economics of the film business,” Tsujihara explained.
“The middle of the market in the theatrical business has gotten extremely tough,” he noted, arguing that offering some movies in homes earlier would “change the economics of adult dramas.”

Suicide Squad Squadtroductions: Captain Boomerang

Despite being spoiled by Warner Bros. a few days before Suicide Squad hit theaters, one of the coolest moments of the movie was the “surprise” cameo by Erza Miller as The Flash. He shows up for a few seconds as we’re introduced to Captain Boomerang, and takes out the villain with ease.
