Thieves broke into Alpha Comics in Calgary, Alberta, early Thursday, and took more than 500 comic books and trade paperbacks, stuffing them in a garbage bag.
Although no high-value comics were stolen, owner Chris Humphries told CTV Calgary the price for that many titles adds up, amounting to a loss of several thousand dollars.
“There was some really cool comics that got stolen, that were written and created by people who are trying to make comics better,” he said. “The dollar value of the individual comics is not very high, actually I sell comics in this store here at the suggested U.S. retail price, so per comic it’s not very expensive, but they took a lot.”
Humphries has posted a list of the stolen titles

The Batman Store
http://www.slashfilm.com/photos-batman-returns-batman-store/
Just in time for Christmas?
Apparently, in an early version of Tim Burton‘s Batman Returns, one scene took place at a Batman-themed store.
In the script, the store was promptly destroyed, but eventually the scene got cut at some point anyway. The set was built, though, and one website has some incredible photos of it. Check out the Batman Returns Batman store below.

Print is DEAD?!

I hope that print isn't dead, as assumed by this article. I love going to the comic book store!!!
Over the weekend, Marvel featured a unique sale: purchase a comic on the Marvel Comics app and Marvel would email you a $5 coupon that could be used at any local brick-and-mortar comic book shop. Pretty forward thinking, right? Here’s the quote from Marvel regarding the promotion: “As we continue to grow the digital comics world, we want to make sure it’s always to the benefit of the medium and our comic shop retail partners,” said Peter Phillips, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Marvel Digital Media Group. “This coupon is a great way for us to let more of our fans know about their local comic store and incentivize them to make the trip there. At the end of the day, our goals in the print and digital mediums are the same—bring more fans to comics.”
