Both DC Comics and Marvel would have you think that big-budget, blockbuster films like Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Green Lantern and The Avengers are their only attempts to bring popular comic book characters into the live-action arena. They would like everyone to forget the sometimes absurd, ridiculous and often ugly reality: that there were numerous early - and failed - attempts to bring super heroes to both the big and small screens.

As you�ll read in the Tom Hardy interview, Hardy -- who plays Bane in RISES -- was the only member of �The Big 3� (Bale, Hathaway, Hardy) working that day. So after the field was blown up, we got to witness a rather cool scene involving Hardy�s Bane being filmed. I�m not going to spoil anything here, but I will say it involved Bane and his mercs entering the stadium post-destruction with a hostage and, apparently, some sort of weapon of mass destruction. Bane then addressed the crowd where -- as you�ll read about in more detail in the Emma Thomas interview -- he tells Gotham of his plan.

DC Examines the “Darkness and Light”

DC Comics recently moved into a new state of the art facility at The Pointe in Burbank, California. To celebrate the opening of the new west coast offices and create awareness of their “We Can Be Heroes” giving initiative, DC employees and a handful of outside guests were invited to experience an art show around the theme of “Darkness and Light.”

and now for the Pièce de résistance................definitely one of the jewels of my collection. Adam West as Batman on the cover of the 1966 LIFE magazine. I've had this mag for about 12years, now it's signed by West this past weekend at Calgary Expo.
