Bruce Timm Confirms Catwoman Short with BATMAN: YEAR ONE Film; Hears Positive Buzz About GREEN LANTERN | The Daily BLAM!

DC's long-time exec producer filled me in on the future of DC Animation including Batman: Year One, the cancellation of their Animated Shorts and the possible appearance of other fan-favorite characters in future projects.
Batman: Year One -- otherwise known simply as Year One -- is a 1987 comic book story arc written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli. The story recounts the beginning of Bruce Wayne's career as Batman and Jim Gordon's with the Gotham City Police Department. Bruce returns home from training abroad in martial arts, manhunting, and science for the past 12 years, while Gordon moves to Gotham with his wife, Barbara, after a transfer from Chicago. Both are swiftly acquainted with the corruption and violence of Gotham City, and vow to make a difference in their own way.

‘Comic Book Literacy’ shows the use of comic books in education

In the 1950s, psychologist Fredric Wertham suggested comic books were corrupting children.

Now, more than 50 years later, comic books are teaching children to read and write.
The Dallas Museum of Art will show University of North Texas alumnus Todd Kent’s new documentary Comic Book Literacy on Saturday.

Kent said the focus of the documentary is how comic books are being used in school.

“One big hurdle with children is to get their attention,” he said.  “Kids are naturally drawn to comic books. It’s engaging.”

Kent said young children learn the idea of sequential narrative from comic books.

Marvel is Bringing Back Canadian Super-Team Alpha Flight!!!!

I'm pretty excited about this, I just bought the complete run on eBay last fall.

Beginning in June, Canada will once again see its greatest superheroes return to action.
Earlier today, Marvel Comics announced that Alpha Flight will be relaunched this June as an eight issue maxi-series by the writing team of Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente with art by Dale Eaglesham. The events in Alpha Flight will tie into Marvel's Fear Itself crossover as well.
Alpha Flight was created by John Byrne in 1979 in Uncanny X-Men #120. Byrne later shepherded Alpha Flight into their first ongoing series which ran for 11 years. Three revivals have been published since then, including an Omega Flight miniseries in 2007.
